Dr. Paul Kimani is a distinguished international legal expert and the Managing Partner of Paul Andrew Advocates, with a broad practice encompassing corporate law, art law, climate adaptation, intellectual property, privacy, data protection, and emerging technologies such as cryptocurrencies, blockchain, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and green hydrogen. His expertise extends to international trade, energy law (oil, gas, and renewables), public-private partnerships, and cross-border transactions. He advises and represents international and African corporations in complex commercial transactions, contract negotiations, and multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration. Recently, he was granted permission to practice before the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
Dr. Kimani has been honored to receive professional recognition for his legal expertise and contributions to the field. In 2025, he was awarded Second Runners-Up, Commercial/Conveyancing Lawyer of the Year, at the Nairobi Legal Awards. In the same year, Paul Andrew Advocates was nominated as African Law Firm of the Year – East Africa by Law.com International. In 2024, he was named Best Specialist Renewable Energy Lawyer at the African Excellence Awards by MEA Markets, recognized among the Top 100 Commercial Lawyers in Kenya by The Lawyer Africa, and awarded Renewable Energy Lawyer of the Year at the Africa Renewable Energy Awards. Also in 2024, Paul Andrew Advocates was named International Corporate Law Firm of the Year – Kenya at the African Excellence Awards. In 2025, Dr. Kimani was invited to the prestigious WIPO–WTO Colloquium for Teachers of Intellectual Property Law and Policy in Geneva, Switzerland, in recognition of his academic and professional contributions to intellectual property law.
Beyond legal practice, Dr. Kimani is an Associate member at the University of Exeter Law School, where he researches intellectual property and digital technologies. He serves as Africa Co-Chair of the Young Institute for Transnational Arbitration (Young ITA), part of the Center for American and International Law (CAIL). He has authored numerous articles in leading international journals on pertinent legal issues.
He holds a PhD in Corporate and Intellectual Property Law from the University of Exeter, an LLM in Commercial and International Energy Law from University College London, and an LLB from the University of Nairobi.
