Dr. Paul Kimani, PhD

Dr. Paul Kimani is a distinguished international legal expert and the Managing Partner of Paul Andrew Advocates, with a broad practice encompassing corporate law, art law, climate adaptation, intellectual property, privacy, data protection, and emerging technologies like cryptocurrencies, blockchain, nanotechnology, AI, and green hydrogen. His expertise extends to international trade, energy law (oil, gas, renewables), public-private partnerships, and cross-border transactions. He advises and represents international and African corporations in complex commercial transactions, contract negotiations, and multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration. Recently, he was granted permission to practice at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.

Paul has received several notable accolades for his legal expertise. He was named Best Specialist Renewable Energy Lawyer at the 2024 African Excellence Awards by MEA Markets, recognized among the Top 100 Commercial Lawyers in Kenya (2024) by The Lawyer Africa, and awarded Renewable Energy Lawyer of the Year 2024 at the Africa Renewable Energy Awards. Paul Andrew Advocates was named International Corporate Law Firm of the Year – Kenya in the 2024 African Excellence Awards and, in 2025, was nominated as African Law Firm of the Year – East Africa by Law.com International. In the same year, Dr. Kimani was invited to the prestigious WIPO-WTO Colloquium for Teachers of Intellectual Property Law and Policy in Geneva, Switzerland, in recognition of his academic and professional contributions to intellectual property law.

Beyond legal practice, Dr. Kimani is an Associate Faculty member at the University of Exeter Law School, researching intellectual property and digital technologies. He serves as the Africa Co-Chair for the Young Institute for Transnational Arbitration (Young ITA). He has authored numerous articles in leading international journals and holds a PhD in Corporate and Intellectual Property Law from the University of Exeter, an LLM in Commercial and International Energy Law from University College London, and an LLB from the University of Nairobi.
