Dr. Paul Kimani

Dr. Paul Kimani is the Managing Partner of Paul Andrew Advocates, a law firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. He specializes in a broad spectrum of legal areas, including corporate law, art law, climate adaptation, intellectual property law, privacy and data protection, and emerging technologies such as cryptocurrencies, blockchain, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and green hydrogen. His expertise also covers international trade law, energy law (oil, gas, and renewables), public-private partnerships, cross-border transactions, and environmental law. Dr. Kimani regularly advises and represents international and African corporations in complex commercial transactions, contract negotiations, and multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration.
Recently, Paul was granted permission to practice at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
He was honored with the Best Specialist Renewable Energy Lawyer Award in the 2024 African Excellence Awards by MEA Markets. Additionally, Paul Andrew Advocates, was named the International Corporate Law Firm of the Year, Kenya, in the same awards.
In addition to his legal practice, Paul is an Associate Faculty member at the University of Exeter Law School, where he conducts research on intellectual property law and digital technologies.
He is also the Africa Co-Chair for the Young Institute for Transnational Arbitration (Young ITA), part of the Center for American and International Law.
He has authored several articles in leading international journals on pertinent legal issues.
Dr. Kimani holds a PhD in corporate and intellectual property law from the University of Exeter, an LLM in commercial and international energy law from University College London, and an LLB from the University of Nairobi.
Ms. Patricia Mukala
Senior Associate Advocate
Patricia Mukala is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a passionate litigant. She is the senior associate advocate at Paul Andrew Advocates, where she specialises in civil and commercial litigation. Previously, Patricia has worked in different multi-disciplinary areas including the Government, Government agencies and private institutions. She has worked at Safaricom Limited where she handled commercial and conveyancing matters such as leases, caveats, cautions and sub-leases. Ms Mukala has also worked at Prof. Musili Wambua Advocates and Wamae & Allen Advocates in a number of areas of interest including Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Patricia has rich knowledge of Civil Litigation and Practice, Commercial Law, Debt Collection, Employment and Labour Laws and has offered legal services in these respective areas of law. Patricia also has a keen interest in Technology and the Law, Energy Law, Oil and Gas and Environmental Law and has been engaged in research work on extractives and in particular the gender role in extractives and dispute resolution in extractives industry for various projects under the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (OXFAM).
Patricia has a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She is also currently undertaking the Certified Secretaries Course offered by the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board.
